Celebrities With Cold Sores Can't Avoid The Limelight
Cold sores can be a pain for anyone it seems. Even the most glittering of celebrities are not immune! Fortunately, for most of us, having a cold sore is a bit of a nuisance and not too serious, but it is hugely embarrassing to have one appear. How much worse then, for the numerous celebrities with cold sores whose pictures appear online and in the media with these blisters on or around their lips?
Poor Victoria Beckham was photographed concealing a very painful looking blister on her top lip beneath her hand. A second photo caught her in an off-guard moment and revealed she had been hiding a painfully swollen-looking lip. But she's not alone, recent female celebs who got caught on 'canker sore camera', include Paris Hilton, Alexa Cheung, Katie Holmes and Lindsay Lohan.
It's not just the girls who come under scrutiny for having these painful looking fever blisters on display either, Brad Pitt and even former US President Bill Clinton, are two of the famous faces who have been pictured with cold sores. The truth is that most adults who have them, celebrity or not, probably got infected in childhood through being kissed by an infected adult.
Celebrities with cold sores are even making us laugh about it! UK TV star, Comedian Alan Carr tweeted recently "My cold sore could now moonlight as a scotch egg" referring to the crusty looking herpes simplex blister that had appeared on his lip!
Even in comedy dramas, cold sores are a hot topic. Michael Scott star of the TV series, played by actor Steve Carrell is probably the best known of the fictional celebrities with cold sores after an episode in series 7, called "Sex Ed" where he gets a cold sore and decides he absolutely has to contact all of his former girl friends to explain that he had this infection. The only person he just cannot tell is his current girlfriend Holly.
In that TV series, his cold sore problem was hilarious, but spare a thought for the feelings of real-life celebrities with cold sores who cannot hide from the limelight when a cold sore strikes.
